We’re looking for a Trainee Writer to join our growing Editorial Team. For this role you need to love language. You need to be crackers about content and passionate about putting pen to paper (or fingers to a keyboard, at least).
We don’t need bags of experience, but the ideal candidate will have done some writing or journalism and be able to provide a portfolio showcasing their writing skills, as well as be a driven and creative person who’s always ready to learn
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Writer to join our Editorial Team full time.
You’ll work closely with a Senior Writer as well as Head of Editorial to become a key player in our creative team. As well as fellow writers, you’ll work alongside Designers and Client Managers, getting involved with the creation of innovative and exciting internal communications materials for national and international clients.
Working with a Senior Writer and Head of Editorial on a day-to-day basis, your role will be focused on supporting with writing, content creation and idea generation as well as planning and administration.
You will have the opportunity to grow and develop your writing skills as part of a busy and award-winning agency (200 awards and counting, no big deal). With the mentoring of a Senior Writer, you’ll get involved with creating content for print and digital mediums, including blogs, social media, newspapers and magazines, environmental branding and printed collateral, video and animation and digital games.
You’ll learn about content planning, interpreting a brief and the basics of sub-editing and proof reading, not to mention discover more about tone of voice, quality standards and how to explore and develop creative communication concepts.
Working as part of the studio team you will build and develop colleague and client relationships and thrive working in a close-knit team. In addition to working with the editorial team, you’ll also support Client Managers with quality checks and making and checking client amends. This will give you a well-rounded experience of how content campaigns are planned, created, managed, and delivered end-to-end, and an understanding of the importance of clear communication, budgets and timescales.
As a Trainee Writer, you’ll learn the fundamentals of Internal Communications and there will be opportunities to grow your skills in this ever-evolving space through training and development opportunities.

We’re looking for someone who…
- Has a degree in English, Journalism or a related discipline or equivalent experience
- Has writing experience, paid or unpaid
- Can provide a selection of writing examples that will knock our socks off
- Is a great communicator and a team player
- Thinks outside the box and has a positive, can-do attitude
- Is organised, with great time management skills
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Has a solid awareness and interest in different social media channels
